The year was 1987. "Walk Like An Egyptian" by The Bangles spent the most time at the top of the US charts. Three Men and a Baby was the top grossing film. The Minnesota Twins won the World Series. In 1987, Michael Klauber also opened his new restaurant on East Avenue, giving the small town of Sarasota a fresh and innovative place to dine.

Entering into the 20th year of service, Michael’s On East has positioned itself as a leader in the fine dining industry. Upon being recognized by Inside Weddings Magazine for their spectacular catering presentation, Michael’s On East Catering and Phil Mancini were awarded Best of the Best in Southeastern Event Planning and Production by the 2006 Allie Awards, as well as the Best Social Event and Most Creative Venue.
